Exhibitions & Events

In 1994, Bruno Dupont and Amanda Crabtree established artconnexion in an apartment at 10-12 rue du Priez in Lille. For ten years, artists were invited to create projects for this domestic space.

In 2005, artconnexion moved to a town house in the heart of Old Lille at 9 rue du Cirque where the ground floor was transformed into an exhibition space.

In this space, as before, the artists interact with the domestic features, and play with the boundaries between private and public space.

In addition to a public programme of exhibitions related to issues of society, artconnexion hosts discussions, conferences, workshops and screenings. A library specialising in contemporary art is available to members and students.

Furthermore, artconnexion designs art projects off-site with partner organisations in the Hauts-de-France region, elsewhere in France and abroad.

artconnexion - 9 rue du Cirque, Lille

Starting with the Tulip Mania crisis in the Netherlands in the 17th century, considered the first speculative bubble in history, Olivia Hernaïz uses this flower as a symbol of financial excesses and abuses.

From the mountains of Central Asia to European still lifes, and through Turkish palaces, the tulip—an object of intense desire—becomes a means to explore our relationship with the living, with time, and with money.
