Marc Camille Chaimowicz

To furnish...

21 November 2009 - 21 February 2010

As an echo to the exhibition English Conversation, Marc Camille Chaimowicz's project is presented at the Musée de La Piscine by artconnexion.

Marc Camille Chaimowicz is an artist with multiple practices. He explores the fragility of the boundaries between the private and public spheres; the relationship between art, the decorative and the domestic; the distinction between learned and popular culture.

If his questions are multiple, so are the forms they take. Passing easily from performance to painting, sculpture, installation, writing or design, he creates wallpapers, carpets or curtains, furniture, objects, ceramics...

Marc Camille Chaimowicz uses a repertoire of motifs and colours that he constantly reinterprets within environments designed specifically for the venue, creating a quirky and finesse-filled universe. These settings offer a double reading of the works: they are both everyday objects, those of our interiors, and sculptures.

Often at odds with the forms and trends of the contemporary art of his time, Marc Camille Chaimowicz's work has in recent years enjoyed a major revival of interest from a new generation of artists and critics.

Marc Camille Chaimowicz's project presented by artconnexion at the Musée de La Piscine reactivates elements of his repertoire through two installations designed and produced specifically for the exhibition.
