The Art in Common Library

Artconnexion has a library specialising in contemporary art : monographs, exhibition catalogues, art theory and history, architecture and urban planning, art in the public space, etc.

In 2024, the library will become The Art in Common Library.
The library's mission is to collect, conserve and promote writings, documents and archives relating to art in common. The library also holds the models and archives of the Nouveaux commanditaires project in the Hauts-de-France region.

Consultation by appointment

The Art in Common library is open for consultation by appointment to art workers, students and researchers.
A scanner and computer are available on site.

Membership to artconnexion is required.
Membership

Reservation slots for consultation will be available from September 2024.

The collection

The collection of the The Art in Common Library numbers around 1,500 books.
These are catalogued in the following categories :
artconnexion, art in common, art theory, curatorial studies, art and public space, urban development, architecture, ecology, society, domestic space, food, artists' residencies, foundations and museums, biennales and festivals, monographs and solo exhibition catalogues, group exhibition catalogues, studies and reports.

Donations and exchanges

Who can donate?
Member organisations of the Société des Nouveaux commanditaires and other visual arts organisations of any nationality working in the social field. Institutions, artists, art critics, curators, art historians and philosophers whose research or exhibition activities are related to art in common.

Donations may include printed material (theoretical works, catalogues, journals), audiovisual archives (photographs, DVDs, films, sound recordings), as well as textual and artistic archives (models, posters, drawings, manuscripts, etc.).
